From its founding, Hakuichi has believed that Kanazawa gold leaf should not be merely a protected cultural asset, but an industry that people need and value. They have invested heavily in technological development and marketing to nurture Kanazawa gold leaf as a local industry, thus contributing to regional employment. Being both traditional culture and a modern industry is a defining characteristic of the company. In this industrial tourism plan, we offer an open and transparent look at our production site.

Gold leaf
The Astonishing Craftsmanship Behind Achieving a Thickness of Just One Ten-Thousandth of a Millimeter
Driven by the belief that Kanazawa gold leaf is both industry and culture, we’ve committed to craftsmanship. Especially valued is the incorporation of handmade quality into the product. The gold leaf’s astonishing thickness—just one ten-thousandth of a millimeter—is still achieved by artisans’ hands. Guests have the opportunity to speak directly with craftsmen and witness the marvel of their skill.

A Contemporary Gold Leaf Culture Connecting Kanazawa with the World
Kanazawa gold leaf is used in a variety of applications—one notable use is in architectural materials. It is highly valued worldwide as a material that creates elegant, luxurious spaces, adorning high-end hotels and luxury brand interiors. During the industrial tourism plan, you can also observe the production process of large-scale projects. Since the projects vary by season, please inquire in advance. Note: Viewing the architectural decoration department is optional.
